Routine Preventive A/C Maintenace

At Prestige Air Conditioning Systems we believe the key to a comfortable worry free environment is proper maintenance. Our maintenance technicians are trained on proper maintenance on all types of air conditioning equipment based on manufacturer’s recommendations. 

We recommend maintenance agreements to everyone that has central air conditioning, because of the high rate of cooling usage in South Florida.

Most contractors will tell you that 90% of breakdowns occur from lack maintenance. The cost of one emergency service can easily exceed the cost of a Preventive Maintenance Agreement. Proper maintenance could also extend the life of you’re a/c equipment and make it run more efficiently thus reducing your electric bill.

Whether your system is new or existing, we, along with FPL, and your equipment manufacturer, recommend a tune-up every 6 months.

Add Algaecide to condensation drip pan
Test electrical connections and AMP draws
Check thermostat calibration
Clean condenser coil (in place)
Clean evaporator coil (in place, if accessible)
Check relays, capacitors and contactor points
Test refrigerant levels for proper refrigerant charge 
Check expansion valve
Inspect blower wheel
Lubricate and necessary moving parts
Inspect ac unit wiring
Clean or replace air filters (filters not included)

Homeowners can do there part too:
Keep leaves, grass, ivy and other debris away from the outside unit to avoid obstructing the air flow. 
 
Check air conditioning filters once a month.
 
Replace or wash air filters when necessary. When filters become dirty, the air conditioning system has to work harder, wasting energy.
